Selectively Coloring Black + White Photos to Add Interest and Focus

Sometimes your photos are good, but sometimes with a few edits, you can give them new life! In this video, I’l turn my photos black and white and then selectively add color back in to make the photos pop!

  • Technique Level: Easy
  • Application Used: Photoshop Elements 2018 and Photoshop CC 2018.
  • Skill-building Tools Used: Black and White Adjustment Layer; Masks, Hue Saturation Adjustment Layer; Quick Mode B+W Filters (PSE)

Be sure to comment below if you like this tutorial, or if you have any questions about the technique I used! I’d love to hear from you!

If you try this tutorial, I’d love to see it! Post it in my Designer Gallery at Oscraps!

Vicki, I saved this photo ages ago in my folder of Things I Want to Learn to Do. Still haven’t worked with it but I flip through the photos in that folder frequently to “encourage” myself. Love that you’re telling us how now! I might have run across this on Instagram because I certainly didn’t have any instructions! Thanks ever so much!!!!
