10 Creative Ways To Use Printable Holiday Tags This Christmas

10 Creative Ways to Use My Christmas Print-and-Cut Tags (Including as DIY Bookmarks!)

If you’re anything like me, the holidays mean full-on creative mode—and maybe a little bit of last-minute gift wrapping chaos. That’s where my Christmas Print-and-Cut Tags come in to save the day! These festive little beauties are ready to print, cut, and use however you please. And while they make adorable gift tags, they’re just begging for a few more creative uses… especially as bookmarks!

So, grab your cardstock, scissors, and maybe a little sparkle, because today I’m sharing 10 creative ways to use these long, narrow tags— (although most of them will work with these ideas) with a focus on turning them into something practical, pretty, and fun!

1. Double-Sided Laminated Bookmarks

Here’s a super simple idea: glue two tags back-to-back (so the design is on both sides) and laminate them. Not only does this make them durable, but it also gives them that sleek, professional feel. Punch a hole at the top, thread through a ribbon or twine, and you’ve got yourself a beautiful handmade bookmark!

2. Add Tassels or Charms

Bookmarks deserve a little flair, don’t you think? Punch a hole at the top of the tag and add a festive tassel, ribbon, or even a small charm—like a jingle bell, snowflake, or tiny star. It’s an easy way to dress up the bookmark and make it feel extra special.

3. Magnetic Bookmarks

Okay, this one’s genius (if I do say so myself): fold the tag in half so it’s not quite as long, and glue small magnets to the inside edges. When you fold it over a page, the magnets hold it in place. Boom—a bookmark that doesn’t slip out every time you close the book!

4. Sew the Edges for Texture

If you’re feeling a little extra crafty, use a sewing machine to stitch around the edges of the tag with festive thread. Gold, red, or even green thread adds texture and a handmade feel that’s so Christmassy. You can laminate after sewing for added durability.

5. Ribbon Tails for Bookmark Peek-a-Boos

Cut a long piece of ribbon, tie it to the top of the tag, and let it hang out of the book like a pretty little tail. You can even glue a small bead, bell, or charm to the end of the ribbon for that finishing touch. Simple? Yes. Gorgeous? Also yes.

6. Handwritten Quotes or Messages

The back of these tags is blank—a perfect little canvas for personal touches. Write a favorite book quote, holiday message, or even the reader’s name on the back. Imagine gifting a book with a matching bookmark that says something like, “May your days be merry and bright!” Heart. Melted.

7. Foil or Glitter Edges

Take your bookmarks up a notch by painting the edges with gold or silver metallic paint. (You can also add glitter glue for a bit of sparkle.) It’s such a simple touch, but it makes the bookmarks feel fancy and polished.

8. Mini Shaker Pockets or Pockets for Notes

For a fun twist, fold up the bottom of the tag to create a tiny pocket—perfect for tucking in mini notes, holiday wishes, or tiny photos. These would make adorable little additions to junk journals, too!

9. Gift Sets for Book Lovers

Bundle up a few handmade bookmarks with a ribbon or tuck them into a cute paper sleeve. Pair them with a book, hot cocoa, or a cozy blanket, and you’ve got the ultimate handmade gift for the bookworms in your life.

10. Place Cards

If you’re hosting a holiday dinner, these tags can double as festive place cards. Just write each guest’s name on the back and set one at each table setting. Your guests can take them home as bookmarks—a little gift to remember the night!
