Making Digital Washi Tape and Semi-Transparent Borders

November 2, 2020

Washi tape is a semi translucent paper tape used in paper scrapbooking and mixed media art journaling to add a bit of color and interest to a page. In this tutorial I’ll show you how to make a realistic digital version in Photoshop Elements, although the same steps apply in the full version of Photoshop. I’ll also show you how to make a semi-transparent ribbon or border element using a little known feature buried in the Shape tools in Photoshop Elements — with instructions for the full version of Photoshop, too.
