Junque Journal Chapter 01 Digital Scrapbook and Art Journal Kit by Vicki Robinson
A “junque” journal is a handmade or altered book that is usually made up from all kinds of recycled items such as papers from magazines, brochures, patterned paper, music sheets, envelopes, packaging, brown paper bags, maps, greeting cards, postcards, doilies – you name it!
And my digital version is just that – it contains many elements that were lying around in my little studio. Miscellaneous paper clips, a cardboard frame for slides my father-in-law had collected; a costume jewelry broach of my mother’s; chipboard nits, and game pieces long ago lost but sitting all lonely and sad in a drawer. Lol. I’ve even included a few vintage photos.
About now you’re probably asking yourself WHY would I put those bits into a kit. Well, the answer is that since this a random collection of things, there is no overall “theme” or subject of the kit. And that means you have the freedom to make any kind of page that floats your boat. No expectations or external pressure to conform.
Junque Journals – you don’t need anything special to create a journal page. In fact, you don’t even have to “purpose” or “vision” for a journal page. Just grab everyday, ordinary things and go. You’d be surprised where your instinct takes you.
