Stamp It or Type It:
Easy, Stylish Ways to Date
Your Scrapbook Pages

Because even the tiniest detail—like a date—can turn a layout into a timeless keepsake. If you’ve been hanging out with me for a while, you might remember this post where I shared why adding the date to your scrapbook layouts is one of those little habits that makes a big difference.

I firmly believe that the date on your scrapbook page is a quiet little hero. It enhances organization, aids in memory recall, contributes to historical documentation, provides context, and enriches the overall storytelling experience.

And today? We’re taking that idea one step further—with a few fun, easy ways to actually add those dates to your pages.

So if you’ve ever thought, “I should probably date this layout…” but didn’t know where to start (or just didn’t want to mess with installing fonts), don’t worry! Why?

Because the bottom line is this: the date doesn’t have to be fancy—it just needs to be there. A stamp, a handwritten note, tucked in a caption or a corner—whatever works for your style. You don’t have to overthink it. But adding it gives your pages so much more heart and meaning.

So next time you’re finishing up a layout, take an extra beat and jot down the date. It’s a small thing that makes a big difference—promise.

🖨️ A Few of My Favorite Typewriter Fonts

Of course, you can use any font that complements your page—but I tend to prefer typewriter fonts (maybe because I’m so old, lol). Here are a few of my favorites from DaFont.com — they’re free for personal use and should integrate seamlessly into your digital or hybrid scrapbooking projects.

  • Another Typewriter: A classic, slightly distressed typeface that adds a touch of nostalgia to any layout.
  • Old Typewriter: This font offers a more rugged, authentic typewriter feel, perfect for vintage-themed pages.
  • Elegant Typewriter: A cleaner, more refined typewriter font that still retains that old-school charm.

Want That Typewriter Look Without Installing Fonts?

If you love that typewriter vibe but don’t want to fuss with font installs, I’ve got you covered!

I have three different sets of date stamp brushes in my shop—each one with a variety of typewriter-inspired styles so you can just stamp and go.

You’ll get both PNGs and Photoshop/Elements brushes in each set—super versatile and easy to use.

I hope this little follow-up gives you some inspiration (and maybe a new favorite font or two!). And if you missed the first post, it’s right here:
