Out of the box thinking was called for on this dreary, rainy, windy weekend, so I decided to start my 2017 art journal.
I bought several new journals for the year, but my “any day, no reason at all, just because I want to artl” journal this year is a Strathmore hard cover. Although they make a larger size, I’m using the smaller one on the theory that the less blank white space I stare at the better. Strathmore journals are a bit on the expensive side for something you are going to slather gesso on, but nowI know why they are so loved. The paper is just spectacular! I’m using the larger one for the Joanne Sharpe “Artfully Inspired 2017” class, which uses lots of watercolor markers and this is the first time I’ve been happy with the result of the markers on paper. I love my Dylusions journals, but watercolor markers just react differently on them.
I decided on a color scheme in keeping with my 2017 word, “renew”. Spring-y colors, which I hoped would influence the weather. Silly me. I had several trials and tribulations as I arted, the main one being that the video recording never did start, although I’m positive (well, pretty sure) I hit the button. Sigh.
So, instead you get a little video blog entry showing you my finished pages and my silly little “out of the box” idea.
I love watching your art and how it is evolving…those colors make me feel springy and happy!
Enjoying the colors
Thanks, Kerstin!
Fun techniques, girlfriend (but too messy for me)! Love the springy colors, everything here is gray and gloomy. Looking forward to seeing more of your art as you renew your mojo!
Lol! I know, my friend! It’s not for you – but it was gray and rainy here too and I had fun!!!
