Thank you all so much for your supportive blog comments, emails and FB messages after last week’s post about my struggles trying to make an important decision. It means so much to me that you took the time to write and to share your own journeys!
As I have done for the past several weeks, I spent most of the weekend trying NOT to think about this decision – unsuccessfully of course. I spent some time away from the internet (and by that I mean several hours – no way I can detach for longer than that!) and used some of that time to clean up my studio. By Monday I was desperate to clear my mind, so I turned to my Life Book 2014 class for inspiration.
The lesson for this week is by Mcki Wild, and involved writing down all of the day’s worries on a piece of watercolor paper. Everything. My worries about friends and relatives who are ill or facing serious life challenges, the state of our nation, the weather, the ink that won’t come off my fingers … you know – the everyday stuff. And of course, this big question pin-balling around in my brain. I filled the entire page with penciled scribbles and then following along with the lesson paintedt over it all. As I was working, I recalled something several good friends, and my husband, kept asking me over the past couple of weeks. “What will make you happy?” What will make me happy? And would you believe that all of a sudden I knew exactly what would make me happy. Just like that. While I dabbing and brayering (is that a word?) it came to me. Seriously! Who knew that Martha Stewart Satin (Pollen, Geranium, Party Streamer, Chamomile) and High Gloss (Amaranth) could be so powerful??
I did it! Once again, art journaling came through for me. I know what I’m going to do! Stay tuned!
Sorry, I know that’s mean … but deal with it! I’ve just gotta fix that white blob on her nose!
